Jamie Hylands
Jamie was born and raised in Langley, BC, where he played competitive hockey, winning a Junior ‘B' championship and playing Junior ‘A’. He graduated from Langley Secondary School in 2022 with Langley Secondary School Principal’s Award of Distinction for four years of ‘A’ honour roll, District Authority Scholarship for Athletics for excelling in sports, and BC Achievement Scholarship for being one of the 8000 graduates with top academic success in BC. He proceeded to attend his first year of university at UFV before transferring in his second year into the Civil Engineering program at UBC. Jamie became a member of Beta in his first semester where he quickly became involved in intramural sports, playing on the ice hockey, flag football, and ultimate frisbee team. To become more involved with Beta, he joined the executive team as the chapter’s VP of External Programming and is excited to work with newly close friend, Brother Matthew McBride. Outside of school, he likes to stay in shape by playing hockey, weight lifting, snowboarding, and running. He aspires to become a structural engineer, specializing in bridge design.
Kavin Bhatia
Kavin is a 3rd year Psychology student from New Delhi, India. He came to UBC at 18 years of age and found his home away from home at Beta Theta Pi. He has grown up surrounded by a culture of competition and positive masculinity, and felt that the fraternity embodied those principles. Kavin is a keen soccer player and has been playing since he was 10. He is also a provincial level debater and has won numerous competitions for his state back home. He graduated high school with an A+ average and aims to set a precedent of accountability and high standards within the chapter. Kavin currently serves as the First Vice President of Beta Theta Pi and aspires to be President one day. His previous roles include the Social Chairman and Public Relations Chair. He lives his life embodying the values set forth by the fraternity and aims to earn his badge every single day.
Brad Hintz
Brad is a 4th year Business Student. Hailing from Chilliwack, BC, he has lived his life with a curiosity for business and technology. At 14 years old he started his journey into becoming an audio engineer for live music, as well as delving into computer science. Through his dedication to self-improvement and his openness to new experiences, he has grown into a well-rounded leader who embodies the core values of Beta. Upon joining Beta, Brad quickly made his way into leadership positions, learning by doing. Fast forward to today, and he has earned an A+ certification as a computer technician, as well as working in live sound mixing for music concerts. Brad is studying Business Technology Management at the Sauder School of Business to expand his horizons towards big data and IT management.
